The Bolts of South Carolina and Georgia

Thomas Belton Bolt was the son of Asa (1803-1876) and Hannah (1808-1891). Asa was the son of John L. Bolt Sr. (4/1/1784-5/9/1867) and Nancy Lindley (1788-1875). John was the son of Abraham Bolt Sr. (8/24/1764-8/20/1839) and Jane. Abraham and his brothers Robert Jr. and Benjamin were the sons of Robert Bolt Sr. believed to have sailed from Ireland

He was the father of Nancy Hannah (Bolt) Argo. He was killed in the underground mine explosion that marked the start of the Battle of the Crater in Petersburg Va. During the War for Southern Independence. His body was never recovered.

The South Carolina Bolts were related by marriage to the Jolly family and their most famous member Manse Jolly, the notoriously unreconstructed Confederate soldier.

Nancy Hannah was married to William David Argo and was the mother of Theodosia (Argo) Sorrow. They are buried at Franklin Springs Baptist Church in Franklin Springs Georgia.
