setting a trap

Was the recent bombing on Iranian officials an attempt to create an excuse to launch a nuclear attack on the U.S. or our allies?  If so, It owuld not be the first time nations have set traps to get otheres to start a war.

Abraham Lincoln trapped Southern forces into firing on Ft. Sumpter by sending supply and reinforcement ships after promising not to do so.  LBJ is widly believed to have teased North Viet Nam into attacking U.S. ships in the Gulf of Tonkin as an excuse for his massive involvement in that conflict.

So if Iran staged the attack, or latched on to it as an opportunity to launch assaults on U.S.  Brittish or Isreali interest, they will only be following our example.
