"The Justice Department determines that white voters in Kinston, N.C., will only cast their ballots for black candidates if they run as Democrats'
That is what the headline said. The voters of Kinston were trying to end partisan politics in their city by changing to non partisan elections.
The U.S. Justice department came up with that lame excuse for denying their effort. This was the same Justice official who refused to prosicute members of the Black Panther party for standing in front of voting booths with clubs to intimidate voters.
President Washington was right. Political party politics has an overall negative impact on our nation We need more non-partisan elections, especially in local elections. And while we are at it, let's enact strict term limits so that our politicians will understand that the offices belong to the people, not the current office holder.
